Not sure why I waited so long to write this review. I had the best time here with Chef Fumi, Chef Masa, and Jon. We miss it already. We came here for a birthday celebration as a treat since we missed Japan. The experience was amazing. We ate dinner so they limit it to a max of 6-8 people. Our service was with two other couples. It was intimate and the food, presentation and ambiance was top notch. I won't name all the dishes since it rotates seasonally but there was around 22 courses and we even opted for the sake pairing. Jon made that a lot of fun. They explain the types of sakes and offer additional tastings if you want it. I might be the minority but I am not a fan of Uni and Chef found out. He made additional arrangements to bring out my favorite fish again in place of the Uni and I loved it. Thanks Chef! At the end when they served dessert they even sang happy birthday. We don't live in the area but we will definitely make it a point to come again for the next celebration!

Omakase壽司,晚餐300美金一位,稅後+小費400美金一位,在洛杉磯屬於合理的價格, 大將Fumi很會與與客人互動,幽默風趣與各一個客人开玩笑, 預定5:45PM早一秒也不讓進, Omakase sushi, dinner is $300 per person, after tax + tip is $400 per person, which is a reasonable price in Los Angeles. Chef Fumi is very good at interacting with customers, humorous and joking with each customer. Reservation is made at 5:45PM, but they are not allowed to enter even if we arrive a second earlier

Had the most amazing time at Kogane. I had a Japan trip planned and couldn't go anymore. Friend took me here to feel better about it, and it turned out to be the highlight of our mini LA vacation. We went for dinner omakase, which they limit the guests to maybe 6 people, which means you get full attention. We very much cared about learning about how each dish was specially made and the differences. Our host and two chefs explained to us so happily to all our curiosity, and even showed us a map of Japan to show where the fish are from. Most of the dishes were cut and made in front of us, and we loved watching every step as we wait for the next special treat! We loved learning so much and it felt so special. We got to speak some broken Japanese with them, and they were so kind to us. We loved every part of it and everything was so authentic and high quality. We both left feeling it was such a unique and memorable experience. It was so lovely to have their enthusiasm to be matched up with ours. This place is definitely great for a date, with a friend or a small group. Especially best for special occasions and those who really appreciate quality sushi or Japanese culture/cuisine. Reservations are required. Parking is easy. I hope to visit again soon and we already miss Jon, Chef Fumi and Chef Masa!

Kogane Sushi offers an exceptional dining experience with outstanding sushi, impeccable service, and a delightful atmosphere. Chef Azumi Fumio is a highlight, providing not only the best fish around but also a cheerful and educational environment. His wealth of knowledge and willingness to engage and share his expertise enhance the dining experience significantly. Whether for lunch or dinner, the meals consistently surpass expectations. Chef Fumio's attention to detail is evident as he inquires about your preferences for rice and wasabi, ensuring every piece of sushi is tailored to your taste. Every dish and piece of sushi at Kogane is perfect, making it our preferred choice over other excellent options like 715 and Kaneyoshi. The ease of reservation because it is outside the heart of LA and the exceptional service from Chef Fumio and his staff, including a special mention for John, make Kogane a standout.

If you are more visual check out my video of this amazing restaurant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMnMWykZRJ0 or my latest Youtube Short: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfZzx3_BnaU Been coming here at least a few times a year and I always go in with very high expectations and still left beyond impressed... each and every single time. My favorite omakase restaurant. It beats a lot of the 1 and 2 Michelin star sushi places for me. Small team but amazing service and great atmosphere. The flavor, complexity and simplicity at the same time of Edomae style omakase is superb. This is the only place I've ever dined at where I wouldn't change a thing. What an amazing experience from beginning to end. The service and ambiance are so refined, I really felt like I was back in Japan.

Dinner service was 22 courses and 2 hours long. You can make a reservation. The chef and host were both very charismatic, friendly, and knowledgeable. The chrysanthemum meadows sake was light and refreshing. Every course is prepared right in front of you with the chef explaining the origin and preparation of the fish as well as recommendations on how to eat the dish. My favorite bite of the night was the charcoal smoked sea perch. The decor is classy but minimal. Perfect for a special occasion.

One of the best in this sgv area. The crew at kogane are masters of their craft! We've been back and already have plans to come back again. They never fail to cheer my belly up full of super fresh, thoughtful omakase with everything that is in season and the best quality available! Parking is plentiful in the lot behind. Enter from around the front.
